Three years ago, Jackie decided it was time to make a real change.
She took a bold step and signed up for her Level 3 and Level 4 Sports Massage Therapy qualifications with Kent Sports Academy.
At the time, she was nervous — and she’ll be the first to tell you that!
Starting a new career from scratch wasn’t easy, especially while juggling family life and an employed job in a busy restaurant. In the early days, Jackie only had one or two clients a week — but she didn’t give up.
With a few honest pointers from her course tutor Andy, a good bit of self-marketing on social media, and a “roll up my sleeves and just get stuck in” attitude, she gradually built her client base.
She kept her restaurant job at first to make ends meet — until it got to the point where she was working too many hours to juggle both. That was the good riddance moment: Jackie left the restaurant behind and backed herself fully.
Fast forward to today:
Jackie now runs her own dedicated studio built in her garden.
She sees between 20–30 hours of clients per week, earning around £800 to £1,200 a week herself.
Plus, with another therapist working under her on a percentage basis, Jackie earns an additional £200–£400 per week — which means even when she takes time off, her business still supports her.
And the best part? She no longer needs to advertise. Her business thrives purely through word-of-mouth referrals from loyal clients.
Jackie’s caring, personal approach — treating clients like people, not just injuries — has built real relationships and a powerful reputation in her community.
Her secret weapon?
Investing in herself properly from the beginning. Completing her Level 4 qualification gave her the deeper knowledge, clinical reasoning, and most importantly the confidence to offer a service that truly stands out.
In Jackie’s own words:
“The Level 4 course at Kent Sports Academy was absolutely worth every extra hour and every penny. It’s given me the knowledge, the skills, and the confidence to run my own successful business and help my clients at the highest level.”
